At De Silva Taekwon-Do, we prioritise the health and well-being of our participants, especially children, and consider it crucial for them to engage in training regularly to facilitate optimal progress. In order to maintain a clean and healthy environment for everyone, we request parents to refrain from bringing sick children displaying signs of illness to our academies.
Aims:
- Identify sick children promptly.
- Ensure appropriate care for sick children.
- Protect children and adults from preventable infections.
- Clearly communicate requirements and procedures when children are unwell.
- Efficiently handle emergencies that may occur while children are in our care.
Procedures for Sick Children:
- If a child becomes ill at the academies the following procedures will be followed:
- Children with vomiting or diarrhoea will be sent home immediately, with a 24-hour exclusion from training.
- Parents/guardians will be contacted if a child is unwell.
- In case of parents/guardians not being present the instructor will contact the emergency contacts provided.
- The child will be made comfortable while awaiting collection.
- In emergencies risking the child's health, an ambulance will be called, and a staff member will accompany the child to the hospital.
Child Protection:
In adherence to Child Protection principles, staff members are prohibited from entering bathrooms while a child is present.
Sick children will be kept within easy access to a bathroom while waiting for their parent/guardian to collect them, minimising the spread of germs. Bathroom inspection and cleaning will follow after the child has left the premises.
First Aid:
- All Instructors must hold a current First Aid Certificate obtained within the last 3 years.
- A designated staff member maintains the First Aid box, regularly checking and updating its contents.
