Note: The term 'parents' encompasses parents and carers, and 'children' or 'child' refers to any person under the age of 18.

As a member of staff or volunteer at our club or activity, we expect you to:

  1. Implement our safeguarding policy and procedures, reporting any concerns about or allegations of abuse or poor practice to our welfare officer.
  2. Listen to any concerns that parents or young people might have.
  3. Consider your behaviour and refrain from engaging in any actions that constitute any form of abuse.
  4. Respect your position of trust, maintaining appropriate boundaries and relationships with young people. Engaging in sexual behaviour with any child under the age of 16 is illegal.
  5. Keep your coaching and safeguarding training up to date.
  6. Ensure the safety of children in your sessions by supervising appropriately, using safe methods and techniques, and prioritising children's safety.
  7. Ensure equipment is fit for purpose, safe to use, and accessible.
  8. Respect children's trust and rights while being honest and open with them.
  9. Champion everyone's right to take part and celebrate differences in our club, avoiding discrimination based on gender, race, sexual orientation, or ability.
  10. Stop play if an injury occurs, administer minor first aid, and call for help when necessary.
  11. Use constructive and positive methods to develop children's skills without humiliating or harming them.
  12. Behave appropriately online in accordance with our online safety and acceptable use policy.
  13. Challenge and address instances of poor, negative, aggressive, or bullying behaviour among young people.
  14. Lead by example when it comes to good sportsmanship, positive behaviour, and commitment to the sport.
  15. Develop positive relationships with parents and regularly catch up with them about their child's development.
  16. Make our club a friendly and welcoming place to be.
